SIR,—`A Spectator's Notebook,' in the edition of October 16, states

that Sinn Fein is 'still the fourth, largest party' in Britain following the election results.' This is, however, not true. Plaid Cymru obtained' a total of 77,571 votes in contesting twenty seats.: Sinn Fein, on the other hand, totalled 63,915. Is there any other criterion by which one may judge the 'fourth largest party'?—Yours faithfully, 24 Muswell Road, Muswell Hill, N10 D. I. DAVIES
