The Great Spectator

This issue of The Spectator has the third clue in the Great Spec- tator Treasure Hunt. The Treasure Hunt will last for nine more weeks, and the winners will receive the most unusual set of prizes ever offered by a newspaper or magazine.

The first prize is an oil painting by Sir John Lavery called Habiba', valued at £3,000.

The second prize is a signed and dated pen-and-wash sketch en- titled 'The Barrister' by Sir William Orpen, valued at £600.

The third prize is a signed limited-edition print by Eduardo Paolozzi RA, from his 'As is When' series, valued at £400.

There are over 100 other prizes, which include signed copies of books by Sir Fitzroy Maclean, Piers Paul Read, Shiva Naipaul, Candida Lycett-Green and Patrick Marnham.

There will also be bottles of Avery's champagne and claret for the runners-up.

Special prize: There is a special prize reserved for advertisers, employees of advertising a8encies and book publishers. This is a signed proof by David Hockney from his ollYwood Suite' of 1965 (valued at £400). Publishers, advertisers and agents are of course eligible for the first three prizes, but they cannot win one of the main prizes as well as the special prize.
