The Austrian Governor of Holstein, Von -Gablenz, has made a

much more conciliatory address to his province. He will "firmly uphold. the system of self-government so far advanced among you ;" he promises "time conscientious application of the existing laws," and makes other kind and courteous advances. He was already popular in Holstein, and, if the Ilolsteiners did not see Prussia in the background, they would be almost as well satisfied as they were under Denmark.
