Sir: 1 was Surprised to discover that some Journeyman through a Freudian Erroure had performed a Sea Change on my small play, 'The School for Political Scandal' (August 17). Mistress Castle is a most chaste woman and I gave her the words, "I have a small Ethiopian, black as a tinker's pot." Alas, it appeared as "black as a tinker's cock."

This is a gross libel on Mistress Castle. John Hayleigh in his Notable Booke "An Appreciation of Gallant Dames" records of Mistress Castle: "She spoke not as a Streame but as a flowe, Her Wordes were often Vivid, never Low" Michael Ivens 5 Plough Place, London EC4
