The Paris papers of Thursday and the Southern mails, delayed

by the hard weather, have been received this afternoon. A proposition in the French Chamber of Deputies, by M. Remusat, to exclude Govern- ment functionaries from the Chamber, had been rejected by a majority of 30.

In Spain, General Pardo is reported to have gained a decisive advan- tage over the rebels of Alieant ; and seven officers who had fallen into his hands had been shot. At Carthagena, two armed feluccas belonging to the insurgents had been captured. A conspiracy to aid the revolt had been discovered at Algesiras.

Advices from Beyrout of the 17th January, describe the Lebanon as being in a state of insurrection. The high-roads were unsafe to travel ; the common labourers were obliged to work with a musket at their elbows ; and all commercial transactions were at a stand. Anarchy, in fact, reigned throughout the country.
