SEED Bans

Preparatory work such as the making of a seed bed is advisable even when a gardener is mainly concerned with getting his plot dug unless, of course, everything to be planted is to be bought. Seed beds require a thorough forking and dressing with bonemeal and weathered soot. A fine tilth is essential but it is best not to remove the small stones, for these prevent a caking of the soil when, later on. warm days follow showers. A good seed bed is a most useful part of a well laid out garden.
