February) that a Christian or Jewish fundamentalist is quite as bad as a Muslim one. Perhaps one difference is that, in this century at least, Jews and Christians have refrained from declaring holy war on those 'dirty infidels' with whom they disagree.

About 1,700 years ago, early Christians in central Turkey were forced to live underground for fear of their lives. To keep their spirits up they painted images of Christ on the walls. In recent years, since these caves have been opened up to tourists, Muslims have done their best to destroy those paintings. Christians may find their actions appalling, but they haven't issued death threats. Surely a religion as long-established as Islam is secure enough in its history to withstand a few written words.
