The Vicar of ElLismond. By William Dancer. (Digby, Long, and

Co.)—The world to which Mr. Dancer introduces us is not altogether like to the world which we know, but has distinct advantages over it. There are bad people in it, we regret to say, but these bad people aro punished with a certainty and a com- pleteness which leave nothing to be desired. On the other hand, everybody in it, whether bad or good, is exceedingly tedious. To speak plainly, this is one of the most absurd stories that we have ever met with.
