POETRY.

KOSSOVO DAY.

("For an Angel of Peace, a faithful gum, a saantlan cd our golds and bod!es, !el ns aak the Lora."---Serbian Liturgy.]

TO SERBIA, IN EXILE.

Yous land lies hushed in grief ; seven months ago

Glad Hope, expectant, died in bitter pain.

Wrapt in a wintry shroud of pitiful rain

A stricken country mourned her Dead. Yet know

That from a thousand holy fanes below Rises the mighty voice of prayer : "Sustain, 0 God, these hearts by sorrow rent in twain, Bearing the burden of a Nation's won.

0 God, the God of comfort, and the sole Defence of Kings and Keeper, grant them yet Shelter and health, salvation and release' ; Though, from afar, the noise of battle roll, Bid mighty Love environ them, and set One sentinel—the Angel of Thy Peace."
