" SHAKESPEARE REDISCOVERED "

[To the Editor of THE SPECTATOR]

SIR,—I am sorry to have to call your attention to an error in your review of a recent work of mine which is so unfair to both author and publisher that I may perhaps be justified in asking for a correction.

The book referred to is Shakespeare Rediscovered by Means of Public Records, Secret Reports and Private Correspondence. It contains twelve plates and many documents " never before imprinted "—which repay study. The title is NOT Shakespeare Discovered, nor is your critic justified in saying that " it fails to redeem the promise of its title," since he substitutes a false title for the real one !—Very sincerely, C. LONGWORTH DE CHAMBRUN.
