24 JUNE 1972, Page 26

Sir: I must congratulate you on your Editorial of June 17.

The total failure of the Prime Minister's policy of going into the Common Market is now becoming unbearably clear. Not only is the policy a disaster but it is apparent that the nation as a whole at least senses that this is so, even if it does not fully understand. The ' Titanic ' sank as I understand it because the captain was too sure of himself. It would seem that Mr Heath is going to sink himself. Many Conservatives are perturbed that he may sink the Conservative Party. As Britons we must make sure that he does not sink the nation.

Congratulations again on your article.
