The Fear's Art, 1917. Compiled by A. C. R. Carter.

(Hutchinson and Co. 51.4—Mr. Carter vigorously denounces in his preface the proposal of ilre National Gallery Trustees to sell some of their Turners in order to buy certain 'Talons that were rumoured to be in the market. His handbook, long indispensable to artiste-, students, and collectors, appears to have been revised with care. The sale lists are not so thrilling as in peace time, but many fine things, like Gainshorough's "View in the Mail," reproduced as 11. frontispiece, are changing hands privately- and crossing the Atlantic.
