A LESSON IN THRIFT FROM TOURAINE.

SIR,—Every morning in spring a short train, " le train des Frimeurs," passes through the station of this little " bourg," where the country people who have any surplus fruit or vegetables are waiting with their produce, which is then and there weighed, paid for and shipped en route for Paris. " Not worth while " is no part of our village vocabulary so long as even a few pence are added to those already within the stock- ing, and the English shoe-leather argument does not weigh as we wear sabots.—I am, Sir, &c.,
