President Guerrier was dead, and General Perrot had been elected in his room. The Ex-President Hoard landed at Jacmel on the 21st April, with a handful of followers, bent upon recovering the government of the Republic. The de facto Govenunent had offered a reward of 10,000 dollars to whomsoever should take him dead or alive. Advices from Valparaiso, to the 25th February, state that the French Admiral Hamelin had returned thither from Tahiti. Queen Pomare had resisted all his attempts to see her. A decree had been promulgated, disinheriting her Majesty and all her family; and a provisional government established, headed by Teti, a rebel chief.
