REPLYING TO A discussion in the House of Lords about

the appointment of Lord Hailes as Governor-General Designate of the West Indies, Lord Home stated unequivocally that 'what we need to do is to try to get the right man in the right place.' This is a bold and praiseworthy policy; it is understood that if it should fail, every attempt will be made to get the right man in the wrong place, or the wrong man in the right place. Only when these two avenues have been finally explored will the Government fall back on getting the wrong man in the wrong place. PH A RO S
