Stravinsky

The Composer and his Works

ERIC WALTER WHITE This exhaustive, marvellously authoritative study (to quote

The Times's review of the first edition) comprises an account of Stravinsky's life and career and a register of his compositions. Each entry in the latter recounts the circumstances in which the particular work was conceived and written, briefly analyses some of the music, and provides details of its first performance or production. For the new edition Eric Walter White has revised the original text, added a new chapter to the biographical section and completed the register with entries for all the late compositions as well as for some early pieces that have recently come to light. He has made important additions, too, to the bibliography. Second edition. 656 pages,

15 photographs, 4 line drawings, 204 music examples. £13.50
