A Trio of Cousins. By Mrs. G. E. Morton. (S.

W. Partridge and Co.)—This " Tale of 1791 " is a very curious production. The story has but the smallest modicum of interest. One cousin is the good young woman of the tale; another is a Republican, who is indiscreet enough to say, " Down with the King and the Royal Family !" and gets into trouble accordingly ; the third is a Sister of Charity, who sees the error of her ways and returns to the Protestant fold. Everybody else prospers in his or her way. The style is distinctly tedious and frequently incorrect. What does Mrs. Morton mean by " palatine extravagance "?
