Tins book belongs to the " Great Composers " series,

and gives us a compact and accurate account of Beethoven's life, with a list of his works. In a handbook what is wanted' chiefly, we admit, is facts, but possibly many students would gladly do without a comparison of the salaries of Beethoven and his master as organists in return for fuller quotations from the composer's letters, notes, &c., giving more idea of his views on music.
