Financial Notes

ELECTION MARKETS.

PRICES on the Stock Exchange during the past week have for the most part fluctuated each day in accordance with views concerning the result of the General Election. For that reason it is quite possible that before these notes have been published there may have been some reaction from the buoyancy which has characterized stocks during the greater part of the week. Rightly or wrongly the feeling of confidence of a Nationalist victory has been increased by the speeches of leaders which have been delivered during the week. In particular, Mr. Snowden's indictment of the Manifesto of the Socialist Party produced a great effect. British Funds have been particularly strong during the week, and there has also been a general recovery in nearly all home securities. In the foreign market even Brazilian Bonds have rallied.
