Transport them

Sir: Auberon Waugh has done it again. I agree with almost everything he writes until he knocks technology, and then he ma es my blood boil. Technology is an ugly word, so I will refer to engineering instead. Doesn't the fool realise that if engineers were given complete freedom, unrestrained by unions or accountants, they could invent machines to replace the workers almost totally? If engineers had been allowed to use their inventive genius to the full, as they did during the Industrial Revolution, there would be little need for people on the *shop floor and less need for the unions. We could transport the whole lot to Rhodesia as can non fodder (accountants included).
