01' blue eyes

Sir: Watching Richard Ingrams in conversation with Dr Clare, I fell madly in love with Richard's perfect English-type male beauty, blue eyes, fair hair worn like Richmal Crompton's `William' with a freedom wave.

Last love can be just as painful as one's first experience which may amuse Taki of Mr J. Bernard, but at my age, and looking absolutely nothing like Sue Lawley, Mr Ingram's charms are a sad reminder of joys I shall never again enjoy.

1 mention my unholy, ignominious passion to soften my reproof for Mr Ingrams' boob in today's issue (17 September), regarding the television film Winds of War. Everyone naturally was expecting rubbish but only the alert eyes of those honourable Telegraph chaps noticed something my adorable Richard Ingrams missed. I admit the Hermann Wouk film is a bit of a pain to watch and almost every character unpleasant or potty. Alas, this is how it was. An honest, truthful, masterly film!

1 insist that Mr Ingrams must not be punished by you. He just took a little nap, that's all and closed those lovely blue eyes. Olga Franklin (ardent fan)
