Royal Court censorship Under_ the above heading, six months ago.

readers were informed of the English Stage Company's refusal to invite the SPECTATOR'S critic to any future production at the Royal Court. At the insistence of the Arts Council this ban has now been lifted, and a re- view by Hilary Spurling of the current production at the Royal Court accord- ingly appears on another page. We are grateful to the Arts Council for its insistence on the principle that theatres should not discriminate against critics who write unfavourable reviews, and also to the New Statesman, the Daily Express and Sunday Times who spon- taneously joined with us in refusing to notice Royal Court productions while the ban lasted.
