The Golden Girl; a Song. The Words by BARRY CORNWALL;

the Music by H. PHILLIPS.

The music of this song is pretty, but the words are sad stuff; e. g. "Lucy is a golden girl, But a man should woo her; They who seek her, shrink aback,

When they should, storms, pursue her.

All her smiles are hid in light, All her hair is lost in splendour, But she hath the eyes of night, And a heart that's over tender."

Why does Mr. PRoCTOR think it necessary to give the world every

dozen rhymes that he writes ?
