Who's zoo

IVs feeding time at Guernsey Zoo, where they are looking for companies to spon- sor the animals. Just send £1,000, and they will put your company's name on any enclosure whose inmate suits your corpor- ate image. They now offer the choice of armadillo, eagle owl, marmoset, wallaby, and gibbon. But the art of sponsorship is to get your name to catch on (`Oh, look, there's the Shell Armadillo — and the S. G. Warburg Boa Constrictor — and what a gorgeous Brook Street Secretary Bird ) and this requires a sense of kinship. If Guernsey can widen its range, then the City can offer a wide range of sponsors, whose names could be linked with a jackal, a hyena, a grizzly bear, a giant sloth, a cuckoo, and whatever the bird is which makes its living by picking the bits out of crocodiles' teeth. Names on demand. Just send £1,000.
