The usual Christmas report on the state of the London

poor has been pub- lished. There has been an increase of pauperism in eleven parishes to the number of 1485 persons, and a decrease in twenty-six parishes of 3844 ; making a net decrease of 2379 persons. The increase is in the West-end parishes. The workhouse inmates to be regaled on Christmas fare today will number between 70,000 and 80,000.
