[To THE EDITOR Or THE " SPEOTATOE."] SIB,—In a recent article in the Spectator the writer quotes a remark made by a French officer to Mr. Rudyard Kipling, which was to the effect that " the Roche is saving the world ; ho has shown us what evil is." This reminds me of the child in a Board School who was told to write an essay on " Pins," and who began her paper with this remarkable sentence : " Pins has saved many lives, through not a-swallering of them."—
