OBJECTIVE CRITICISM

the' Editor of THE Sencr.vron.1 'I

Srit,---My 'first reaciton on reading Mr. E. E. Kellett's article

in last week's Spectator was—" What a delightful leg- pull ! " and I looked back to the earlier paragraphs to find some sentence conveying that it was a satire and not a recital of facts. Failing to find the clue I accept it on the reputation of The Spectator as a true report, and that being so my copy shall be carefully preserved for my pOsterity to read.— London, W.2.

[First reactions are often test—as in this case.--En. The Spectator.]
