The Judicial Committee have decided that Mr. Parches, of Brighton,

has offended against ecclesiastical law by wearing the chasuble, alb, and tunicle in celebrating the Communion ; by using wine mixed with water, and wafer bread ; and by standing with his back to the people between the Communion-table and the congregation. On the point of the use of the biretta and of holy water, the charges were not sufficiently proved to enable the judges to come to a decision, and on these latter points the appeal was disallowed. As the weightier charges had been proved, Mr. Parches had to pay the costs in both Courts. Clearly the present tendency of the ruling force in the Church is centrifugal.
