Its area exceeds that of France with Corsica. It is weelthy, and its future is hopeful. One great thing is that it is not "congested" ; there is no populatioteproblem to be faced for years to come. There are some twenty-five million acres of cultivable land yet unoccupied. Mr. Harmer has much to tell us about Burmese jewels—the ruby may be said to be its speciality—and -Burmese gold.
