HOMECROFTING

[To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] SIR,—We are much interested in Professor Scott's plan. We deplore the necessity for putting it on a capitalist, interest- bearing basis, but the Cheltenham Homecroft Association may be a valuable experiment in spewing what may be done by people to loosen the shackles of wage-slavery if once they have a grip on a corner of land, and can produce their food-supply in part. We hope that people in other parts of the country will make similar attempts ; they will probably be awakened to the evils of profiteering in land, and will see the necessity for further steps in securing the land for the people. We will subscribe t200.—I am, Sir, &c., Batheacton Villa, Bath. G. and A. E. Tou. MACNE.
