Thirsty work

CHRISTOPHER HOLLIS

The pubt in Northern Ireland were closed on the day of the celebration of the Battle of the Boyne. The day passed without violent incident.

It's ould but it is beautiful. Its colours they are foine. It was worn at Derry, Aughrim, Enniskillen and the Boyne, And it's only right and proper, as was always done before, That on the Twelfth I proudly wear the Sash my father wore. And yet, when all is said and done, we find it rather scurfy. It should not be on the Bogside nor be worn at Ballymurphy, And what is past all bearing is when it is proposed That on that sacred day of days the pubs should all be closed . . . It needs a dacent thirst to show the boys across the Border That every loyal Orangeman will fight for Law and Order.
