Chipper

Sir: As a member of the working class, I turned to your summer food and wine section (11 June) to see what was to be said about chips. After all, most people like chips and they are cheap.

But you didn't have anything on chips. So I hope you will not mind my offering the following advice: (i) The best chips are to be found at Le Caprice and Le Café du Marche (off Charterhouse Square).

(ii) The worst are at Manzi's and Wiltons. These facts of life should have been pointed out years ago; and, as far as I know, no one has hitherto made the effort.
