The debate in the French Chamber of Deputies, on the

motion to abrogate the vote by ballot in the Chamber, closed on Wednesday; and the motion was rejected, by 193 to 201. The result puzzled the Paris politicians. Among the warmest supporters and opponents of the pro- position were to be found men of all parties ; the partisans of Ministers being nearly equally divided on the subject, while Ministers themselves were far from unanimous. M. Guizot did not vote on either side. It was generally understood that the vote was most agreeable to the Court and the Ministry.
