The Consol Market during the greater part of the week

has ruled heavy, and prices have steadily declined. Yesterday, how- ever, the downward movement was checked by the favourable returns of the Banks of England and France, and an advance in the quotations took place. On Saturday last the closing prices were 7—For money, 89k; for account, 89f f . Yesterday the last quotation for transfer was 8911 to f ;-for time, 891 I. The lowest prices were touched on Wednesday, when Consols sold as low rts 89 for delivery.
