THE KING'S EXAMPLE.

[TO THE EDITOR OF THE " SPECTATOR."'

SIR,—Your, " Our ' Down Glasses' Policy " in your issue of December 18th is my apology for informing you that some of us out here have followed the King's, fine example, whilst some did so when war was declared, many breaking a life habit to be fit for duty when the time came, as it did during the rebellion of 1914. I am in favour of the policy of " Down Glasses during the War," but not being a resident of the United Kingdom my contribution may not be in place.—I am,

Commandant for Mafeking and District.

Spring Valley, Dist. Mafeking, C.P., South Africa, February 13th.
