UNCLEAN

SIR,—Further to the comment of your columnist 'Starbuck' may I, as one of the candidates referred to in your issue of May 18, make some correction to the statements made regarding the National Party of Europe and its policy?

Firstly it is incorrect to say that 'Union Party' (i.e., the National Party of Europe) is fascist in either policy or individual membership; Fascism was basically an ultra-nationalistic idea based on the economic structure of the Corporate State and as our name alone indicates the members of this party no longer support the idea of Britain and the British Empire or Commonwealth as an independent, viable economic possibility. Truly, our leader, Sir 0. Mosley, with many present members of our party, was a Fascist before the war, for which fact many non-fascists, including myself, hold his European views in even greater esteem. Should your column- ist care to read his writings since the war I think even he would agree in substance with the contents.

In conclusion, regarding your columnist's prefer- ence for a 'decent leper' rather than a 'well-scrubbed fascist,' i.e., myself. As an article of political faith may I say how deeply significantly this reflects upon your columnist?
