By his performance of Rover, in Wild Oats, which was

revived at the Haymarket on Monday last, Mr. Murdoch, the American comedian, has somewhat disappointed those who witnessed his debfit in The Inconstant. That he would display that mercurial vivacity which has been usually associated with the part, was scarcely expected, for his mirth has ever been somewhat hard in its expression ; but an exhibition of force in the latter part of the play was naturally to be anticipated, and this did not come. The concluding scenes of Farquhar's comedy were elaborated with a great deal of care ; but similar attention had not been paid to Wild Oats. Perhaps Mr. Murdoch did not think O'Keefe worth so much trouble as Farquhar.
