THE 'SUN'

SIR,—Mr. Churchill could have been a little fairer in last week's article on the Sun's advent.

Its publication was historic. As the only new national newspaper to be printed since the Daily Express, it certainly seized the imagination of the public with a total sell-out of three and a half million copies on the first day. Whatever the past history of the Herald, here is a new creative act of journalism that should be applauded and its future wished well, particularly among journalists. Most comments were favourable on the publication, and this places Mr. Churchill's article in a rather chary and depress- ing light. Surely the future success of the Sun has something to do with the success of all papers, in- cluding the Spectator.
