Everyone knows that Saturday's Queen Elizabeth Stakes is the current target for the Brigadier Gerard entourage. I shall be surPrised if all the seven other acceptors stand their ground, but Good Bond who has proved himself a topflight handicapper since last encountering the Brigadier, could be good for the forecast. An hour or SO later the Diadem Stakes, a valuable weight-for-age sprint, appears to lie between the three-year-old fillies Magic Flute and Abergwaun,

and the year older Sweet Revenge.

Friday is strictly entitled Lord's Taverners' Day but the field of sponsorship is wide and Mateus Rose offer the most tempting prize, which I hope will be claimed by the leniently-weighted, Happy Victorious, a recent three-length scorer, at the main expense of recent French raiders, Comedy Star and Miracle.

Assets: £15.85 Outlay: E5 to win Brigadier Gerard, £3 to win Sweet Revenge & Happy Victorious.
