The settlement was for the most part loyally accepted by

the strikers, the majority of whom returned to work on Monday ; but on the North Eastern, where "recognition "had already been granted and the conciliation scheme does not apply, the question of reinstatement delayed the resumption of work. An arrangement, however, has since been come to by which the men undertake to work amicably with and not annoy the non-strikers, and the directors hold themselves free to adopt whatever procedure may be recommended by the Commission as to the best means of settling disputes.
