Afterwards the house was much more tranquil than usual on such occasions.

It has been stated to us on the authority of private letters from London, the writers of which, we apprehend, have access to good infor- mation, that our excellent countryman Mr. Lynch, the Member for Galway, and one of the English Masters in Chancery, is likely to be appointed to one of the new Vice-Chancellorships.—Dublin Evening Post.

Arrangements have been completed for the erection of' a monument to the late Mr. Secretary Drummond. Placards have been posted about Carlow, stating that, owing to a mistake in the Sheriff's return of the late election for that county, there must be a new election. The Dublin correspondent of the Morning Post, however, asserts that the statement in the placard is a gross fabri- cation of the 4. Liberal Club."

Mr. Ashton Yates, according to a statement made at the Repeal meeting in Dublin on Monday lust, does not intend coming forward again for the county of Carlow. The Liberals there, however, are making preparetame to bring forward two candidates.—Glotc.
