" A correspondent " furnishes this the first leader of the Standard tonight-

" By special invitation of her Majesty, Sir Robert Peel left town this morn- ing for Brighton. The right honourable Baronet is not expected to return until Monday.

" Sir Robert had appointed today for a grand Parliamentary dinner, and the dinner will take place at the time appointed ; but in the absence of the right honourable Baronet, we understand, the Chancellor of the Exchequer will pre- side at the festive board."
