The West India mail brings adviees from Mexico, of the

21st January; but there is really no news. Negotiations for peace are said to be in progress, with favourable prospects.

The yellow fever has made sad havoc in the Eighty-eighth Regiment, at Barba dos. Colonel Phibbs, of that regiment, died on the 27th of January; and forty men have fallen victims to the malady.
