It was confidently asserted in Westminster Hall this afternoon, that

Mr. Mettle, M.P. for Carlow, is appointed to the vacant Judgeship; and we have no doubt that such is, or will be, the selection.

The Right Honourable Frankland Lewis, one of the Poor-law Com- missioners, has resigned. He will be succeeded by his son Mr. G. Cornwall Lewis, a gentleman well versed in the subject of Poor-laws,- Globe.
