In accordance with the provisions of the Statute enacting that

on the death of the Sovereign, Parliament, if adjourned or prorogued, shall at once meet and sit, both Houses met on Wednesday afternoon to take the oath of allegiance to the King. The terms of the oath, which was first subscribed in tee Lords by the Lord Chancellor, and in the Commons by the Speaker, are as follows : "I — do swear that I will be faithful and bear true witness to his Majesty King Edward the Seventh, his heirs and successors, according to law. So help me God." The process of swearing-in was continued on Thursday, and yesterday afternoon, in reply to a. message from the King formally announcing the death of the late Queen, a resolution of condolence was passed, the regular business of the Session being postponed till the date fixed for its opening, February 14th.
