The sale of 25, 000 acres, out of the 41,000

acres of Lord Ailesbury's Savernake Forest estate, is one of the largest transfers of property that have occurred in recent years The buyer, Mr. E. C. Fairweather, gets some excellent agricultural land, together 'with a good deal of " sheep-walk," and eight villages. It is not yet known what he proposes to do with his new property, and agricultural interests in England will wonder whether he has a development scheme in view. " Safernoc " was first mentioned as long ago as 983 A.D. in a deed gift to the Abbey of Wilton. It was owned for a long time by the Seymours, and Henry VIII. and Jane Seymour were married at Wolfhall, outside the forest * * * *
