In its commercial article, under the date of this day

at two o'clock, the Globe says—" A merchant-vessel, arrived at Hull, is said to have brought intelligence of a very important character from New Zealand; namely, nothing more nor less than the pacification of the colony by a treaty between Captain Fitzroy and the Natives. We confess we do not rightly understand how such a treaty could, with honour to our outraged flag, be brought about; but, if the Governor has obtained. satisfaction—for the lives lost there scarcely can be any—he is possessed of more talent than he has had credit for."
