From Valerie A. Fowler Sir: With regard to Dr Lynch's

letter in your illustrious magazine (12 July), I parked my car in Molesford Road SW6, a fairly cosmopolitan area of London, where I came upon a very English (white) gentleman traffic warden. He was absolutely charming, explaining the time limit and cost of parking (which I already know as I am familiar with the area). I arranged with him to check my appointment at a local hairdresser. and then put my money in the machine. I have worked in Tooting for 35 years with all races and have found the vast majority of people to be amenable.
