Lord George Hamilton, addressing the students of the Roy Naval

College, Eltham, on Thursday, referred to the increase in the armaments of different nations, but declared that what he cared about most was not the number of guns, bet the individual who was behind the gun, and the use the individual made of it. "My hope and desire," added Lord George, " is that before I die I shall see a system of universal military training in this country." We are delighted to find that so eminently prudent and sound a statesman as Lord George Hamilton should thus declare himself in favour of universal training and the policy of the National Service League. Lord George's work on the Poor Law Commission no doubt taught him how important it is to take steps to rectify the degradation, physical and moral, wrought by the Pauperisation of our people under the Poor Law.
