Spanish Reader of Smith American History. By E. W. Supple. (Macmillan and Co. 4s. 64. net.)—This is a sign of the times. Young America is learning Spanish in order to learn about South America. This book contains selections from Latin-American authors dealing with episodes in their history, such as the death of Atahuallpa the Inca.; the campaigns of Bolivar and San Martin,, who drove out the Spaniard ; and the sea fight off Iquique between the Peruvians and Chileans in 18:9. The text is carefully ammo- tatecl, with a vocabulary and maps. Spanish students here—a small but growing band—will find. the book interesting and useful.
